Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto Subianto invited former economic officials from the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono administration to share their experiences in managing the 2008 financial crisis.
“I accompanied the President with the Finance Minister to meet several figures who had served as ministers or Bank Indonesia governors,” said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto after the meeting at the Presidential Palace on Friday (22/5/2026).
Attendees included former Bank Indonesia Governor Burhanuddin Abdullah, former Planning Minister Paskah Suzetta, and former Deputy Minister Lukita Dinarsyah Tuwo. They discussed past challenges such as inflation spikes and currency pressures linked to global oil prices, according to antaranews.com.
Minister Airlangga noted Indonesia’s current fundamentals are stronger, with the rupiah’s depreciation at about 5 percent. President Prabowo instructed officials to strengthen financial regulations and banking capital. Burhanuddin said that past crises provide lessons for fiscal and monetary coordination today.
