Inp.polri.go.id - Nganjuk. President Prabowo Subianto clarified on Saturday (16/5/2026) that his administration is not against free market mechanisms but will actively intervene to protect vulnerable citizens and reduce economic disparity.
Speaking in Nganjuk, East Java, the President stressed that affirmative government policies remain essential to prevent corporate interests from marginalizing low-income communities.
"Once again, it is not true that I am against the free market mechanism. I do not oppose the free market, but I understand that it can be manipulated," President Prabowo said during the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum, as reported by antaranews.com.
He urged business owners to adopt an "Indonesia Incorporated" mindset, emphasizing that the country must function under a family-like state model based on Pancasila.
Reflecting on the tragic 1993 death of labor activist Marsinah over wage disputes, President Prabowo noted that businesses operating solely for maximum profit contradict national principles. He vowed to uphold constitutional mandates to ensure equitable wealth distribution.
