inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Jakarta expressed its sincere condolences for the loss of life and damage caused by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.
"We extend our condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. We hope that life in the areas affected by this natural disaster will soon return to normal," the Russian Embassy wrote on Instagram on Sunday (8/16/2026).
Meanwhile, the Government of the United Arab Emirates also expressed solidarity with Indonesia and offered condolences to the victims affected by the earthquake.
"The United Arab Emirates expresses its solidarity with the Republic of Indonesia over the earthquake, which resulted in a number of fatalities and injuries, as well as significant property damage," the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday (8/15/2026).
The UAE also prayed for a speedy recovery for all victims.
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday (8/15/2026) morning.
According to preliminary reports received by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, the earthquake affected several areas, particularly the regencies of Nagekeo, Sikka, Manggarai, West Manggarai, and Ende.
Around 2,000 people were reportedly affected, while the number of evacuees is still being collected.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) released preliminary data as of Saturday, 6:48 PM WIB, indicating that the total number of deaths due to the earthquake had reached 47.
