Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Semarang Metropolitan Sub-regional Police have named the Director of PT Cahaya Wisata Transport a suspect following a fatal December 2025 crash that claimed 16 lives. 

Semarang Police Chief Senior Superintendent M. Syahduddi confirmed on Wednesday (18/2/2026) that the executive failed his supervisory duties, knowingly operating the Bogor-Yogyakarta route since 2022 without valid permits or Ministry of Transportation oversight.

"The suspect failed to perform his supervisory function over the bus operations," Chief he said, noting the company ignored two previous citations for illegal operations.

Investigations into the "Cahaya Trans" bus tragedy on the Semarang Inner-City Toll Road revealed systemic negligence and administrative violations, according to antaranews.com The owner allegedly bypassed mandatory driver recruitment standards and neglected to verify the validity of the driver’s license. 

Authorities previously charged the driver, identified as GIF, in the same case. The director now faces charges under Article 474 of the Criminal Code for negligence resulting in death, carrying significant prison time for his role in the administrative failures leading to the tragedy.
