Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Immigration Office announced on Sunday (17/5/2026) that it has served approximately 30,000 Hajj pilgrims for the 1447 Hijriah season via the specialized Makkah Route service.
The fast-track program allowed Saudi Arabian immigration officers to conduct passport and visa screenings directly at the departure airport in Indonesia.
"Soekarno-Hatta Airport is scheduled to process around 35,285 pilgrims, and currently, 30,000 have successfully received clearance," said Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Chief Galih Priya Kartika Perdhana in Tangerang, Banten, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The airport manages departures across three regional embarkation points: Pondok Gede, Bekasi, and Cipondoh.
The initiative employs 43 Saudi immigration personnel alongside 40 Indonesian immigration officers to guide pilgrims through ten dedicated counters. By completing legal border entry requirements before take-off, pilgrims bypass processing queues entirely upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. The Makkah Route pre-clearance system is also available at international airports in Surabaya, Solo, and Makassar.
