Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Health Quarantine Office (BBKK) has intensified health screenings for travelers arriving from the United States of America, Argentina, Uruguay, and Panama following reports of fatal Hantavirus cases.

The heightened surveillance responds to World Health Organization (WHO) data regarding three cruise ship passengers who died from the virus.

“We are conducting extra tightening for direct flights to Soekarno-Hatta from these four identified countries. However, we may add or adjust this list as new information emerges,” said Naning Nugrahini, the Head of BBKK Soekarno-Hatta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com..

Authorities have reinstated mandatory health declarations via the SatuSehat application alongside thermal scanning and visual observations at arrivals. To manage potential risks, the airport has designated specialized evaluation lanes and infectious disease ambulances. Officials urged travelers to maintain hygiene protocols, noting that Hantavirus is transmitted through contact with infected rodents' saliva or waste.
