Inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police destroyed 200 kilograms of confiscated marijuana on Tuesday (19/5/2026) following the discovery of a massive 20-hectare cannabis plantation in Empat Lawang Regency.
The destruction ceremony, held at the Empat Lawang Sub-regional Police Headquarters, included eight sacks of dried marijuana and one sack of wet cannabis plants valued at approximately Rp 500 million.
"Drug trafficking severely damages the nation's generation. Therefore, we continue to develop scientific crime investigation utilizing technological advancements to pursue this network to its roots," said South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, as cited by antaranews.com.
The case stemmed from a February 2026 investigation in the Bukit Talang Sungai Udang area. Police have named five suspects in connection with the plantation; two men, identified as RS and A, have been arrested, while three others remain at large.
