Inp.polri.go.id - Aimas. The Southwest Papua Regional Police have intensified a large-scale manhunt for 19 suspects placed on the most-wanted list (DPO) following a string of violent attacks, including arson and murder, in Tambrauw regency.
"Our teams, in collaboration with the Tambrauw Sub-regional Police, are currently hunting down 19 people linked to three separate criminal reports involving arson in 2024 and fatal violence in March 2026," said the Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Junov Siregar, in Aimas on Tuesday (7/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The fugitives included five suspects from an attack on 8 March 2026, and several others tied to the burning of the Bamusbama District Office in late 2024. In addition, police are tracking six remaining suspects involved in the killing of two civilians on 16 March 2026, after four others recently surrendered to authorities.
Investigations suggest the suspects may be affiliated with armed criminal groups (KKB). While their initial targets were reportedly security forces, the group has shifted to attacking civilians. Police are working alongside the military, local administration, and community leaders to expedite the arrests and restore order in the region.
