inp.polri.go.id - Kebumen. Police arrested a man identified as SP, suspected of assaulting his wife and mother-in-law to death in Kebumen Regency, Central Java. 

The tragic incident occurred in Jogomulyo Village, Buayan District, Kebumen Regency, on Tuesday (5/12/2026) at around 11:40 a.m.

The incident resulted in the deaths of two victims, identified as PA (52) and EP (33). Both received medical treatment at Purbowangi Hospital but were later pronounced dead.

Kebumen Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent I Putu Bagus Krisna Purnama, revealed that the perpetrator assaulted his wife and mother-in-law, causing both to suffer serious injuries. The perpetrator is now being held by the police for further questioning.

"The perpetrator assaulted his wife and mother-in-law, causing serious injuries and death," he explained on Wednesday (5/13/2026).

He stated that investigators are still investigating to uncover the motive and complete chronology of the incident. Investigators have also questioned several witnesses.
