inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police's Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate destroyed narcotics evidence from the investigation into 25 drug trafficking cases in various regions of South Sumatra. These efforts have saved an estimated 34,252 lives.
The destroyed evidence was the result of the uncovering of a narcotics trafficking network involving 37 suspects from operations in Palembang, Prabumulih, North Musi Rawas, Musi Banyuasin, Banyuasin, Lubuklinggau, Ogan Ilir, Ogan Komering Ilir, and Muara Enim.
The evidence destroyed, after being set aside for trial and laboratory testing, consisted of 2,973.41 grams of methamphetamine, 1,054 ecstasy pills, 142 milliliters of etomidate, and 167.91 milliliters of synthetic methamphetamine.
Besides potentially harming tens of thousands of lives, the evidence had an estimated economic value of IDR 2,294,108,000.
The Vice Director of the South Sumatra Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit, Superintendent God Parlasro Sinaga, emphasized that the destruction of evidence is a crucial part of a transparent law enforcement process and a form of accountability to the public for every case uncovered.
"Every gram of narcotics we successfully confiscate and destroy means we have successfully protected a community from the impacts of drug abuse. This is not just about law enforcement, but also about saving the future of the younger generation and maintaining the social resilience of the South Sumatra community," he said in a written release on Wednesday (6/10/2026).
According to him, illicit drug trafficking remains a serious threat that can damage health, destroy family futures, and trigger various other criminal acts. The police will continue to strengthen law enforcement efforts, network mapping, and ongoing prevention.
The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, added that the successful disclosure and destruction of evidence demonstrates their commitment to protecting the public from the increasingly complex threat of narcotics.
"Drug eradication cannot be carried out by law enforcement alone. It requires the concern and involvement of all elements of society. Therefore, we urge the public to report any information they know about drug trafficking in their communities. Every piece of information provided is crucial in saving the nation's future generations from the dangers of drugs," said Nandang.
