inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jambi Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit arrested three individuals for distributing 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and 5,051 ecstasy pills ready for distribution in a hotel room in Jambi City.
"The case was uncovered early Saturday (4/4/2026). Officers successfully secured the three suspects along with evidence of approximately 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and 5,051 ecstasy pills in a hotel in Jambi City," said Jambi Regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Boy Sutan Binanga Siregar, Monday (4/6/2026).
Boy stated that this disclosure demonstrates the police's commitment to eradicating illicit drug trafficking in their jurisdiction and disrupting the drug distribution chain in Jambi City.
The case stemmed from public information regarding a narcotics shipment from Pekanbaru, Riau, to Palembang, passing through Jambi City. Following up on this information, the authority conducted an investigation and ultimately raided a hotel room in the Payo Lebar area, Jelutung District.
During the operation, officers arrested three men, identified as RL (43), RT (29), and SA (25), all residents of Pekanbaru, Riau. The search revealed a black backpack stored in the hotel room's closet, containing two large packages of methamphetamine weighing approximately 2,000 grams and 50 packages of ecstasy pills totaling 5,051 pills.
The investigation revealed that RL acted as the main courier under the orders of a man identified as S who is now a wanted man. RL and RT were tasked with picking up the drugs in Pekanbaru and delivering them to Jambi and Palembang.
RT, meanwhile, assisted RL in delivering the goods and had even participated in two similar trips. He was promised a salary of IDR 6 million, but only received approximately IDR 4.5 million. Meanwhile, suspect SA claimed he was only invited to work under the pretext of working on a tower project in Palembang and was unaware of the narcotics on the trip.
"RL is known to be a repeat offender in narcotics cases, who is again involved in this illicit drug distribution network. We are continuing to investigate this case to uncover a larger network, including other perpetrators who played controlling roles," explained the Police Chief.
For their actions, the suspects are being charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and Article 609 Paragraph (2) letter a of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
