Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps urged the public to remain vigilant against misleading information and false narratives circulating on social media designed to undermine public trust in traffic law enforcement.
Speaking during a morning roll call at the Traffic Corps Headquarters on Monday (3/8/2026), Law Enforcement Director Brigadier General I Made Agus Prasatya clarified viral posts claiming that West Java Police were conducting a 2026 vehicle tax raid.
Following direct coordination with the West Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate, authorities confirmed that no such tax raid was taking place.
"In this AI era, the spread of disinformation is increasingly massive," Chief Agus Prasatya said. "Officers must be wise, proactive, adaptive, and capable of delivering literacy to the public so they are not easily swayed by untrue information."
He also addressed viral claims regarding instant fines for worn-out tires, clarifying that under Law No. 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation, enforcement targets overall vehicle technical standards and roadworthiness rather than isolated components taken out of context.
Chief Agus Prasatya urged Indonesians to cross-check traffic news through official police channels before sharing unverified content.
