Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation has revealed the preliminary chronology of the fatal train accident at Bekasi East Station on Monday night.

Minister Dudy Purwagandhi explained that the chain of events began when a Commuter Line (KRL) train struck a car at a level crossing, forcing it to stop for emergency evacuation.

"Based on the initial chronology, the accident started when a KRL train on the Bekasi–Cikarang route collided with a car at the JPL 85 crossing," he said on Tuesday (28/4/2026), as reported by antaranews.com.

Due to the disruption, a second KRL train was ordered to stop at the East Bekasi platform. However, the oncoming Argo Bromo Anggrek express failed to halt in time, resulting in a rear-end collision with the stationary KRL.

The Ministry is currently supporting an independent investigation by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). President Prabowo Subianto has visited injured victims at Bekasi Regional Hospital on Tuesday morning to ensure they receive optimal care and assistance.
