Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs Agus Andrianto announced that 19,337 inmates have passed initial verification and assessment stages for amnesty.
During a working meeting with Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (19/2/2025), he said that the first category includes 2,591 narcotics users caught with quantities below the legal threshold. Another, 15,447 inmates fall under the Supreme Court Circular No. 4/2010, which mandates rehabilitation for drug users and addicts.
"We will reassess these numbers, as the circular focuses on drug quantity, whereas our target is actual users," Minister Agus explained, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The second category covers 382 inmates convicted under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, including five convicted for political dissent or defamation.
The final category involves special-needs inmates, including the chronically ill (270), mentally ill (73), elderly over 70 (110), pregnant women (6), mothers with children (37), juveniles (409), and those convicted of treason (10).
Minister Agus also noted that while 19,337 inmates passed verification, 20,589 did not, and the initial target of 44,495 inmates will be further reviewed by the Directorate General of General Legal Administration for thorough verification.
