Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) is set to expedite the certification of waqf land and places of worship in 2025 to ensure better legal protection.

“Currently, only 41% of the 655,238 waqf land parcels nationwide are registered. This is far below the potential and requires faster action next year,” said Agrarian Minister Nusron Wahid on Wednesday (1/1/2024).

Waqf is an Islamic endowment of property or funds, donated for charitable, religious, or public welfare purposes in accordance with Islamic principles. 

In 2024, the ministry certified 15,093 plots of waqf land s. To improve this, Minister Nusron proposed creating dedicated service counters at land offices to simplify the process. 

“The certification is often delayed due to incomplete documents from donors or heirs. We aim to enhance digital systems for quicker and more transparent processes,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com, adding that certifying waqf land is crucial for providing legal certainty for properties used for worship.

In 2024, the ministry delivered 8 million public services, generating Rp 2.9 trillion in non-tax revenue, including through electronic certificate issuance.
