Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force are pursuing an armed criminal group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya following a deadly shooting in Nabire, Central Papua, that killed one civilian and injured four others on Friday (17/10/2025).

“A joint team from Damai Cartenz Task Force and Nabire Sub-regional Police is chasing the armed group responsible for the attack and reinforcing security in the West Nabire area,” said Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Commander of the Damai Cartenz Task Force.

The assault occurred when the group opened fire on a Hilux pickup truck passing through Kali Semen, Wadio Atas, West Nabire District. One victim, identified as Masturiyadi (50), died from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Four others, identified as Yance Makai, Aser Kegou, Martinus Makai, and Arim sustained injuries from gunfire and shattered glass.

Security patrols have been intensified along vulnerable routes as authorities continue to hunt the perpetrators and ensure the safety of civilians.
