Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police’s counterterrorism detachment Densus 88 Anti-terror is investigating the motive behind a bomb threat sent via email to Saudia Airlines flight SV-5276, which was carrying 442 hajj pilgrims from Jeddah to Jakarta.
“From the email, we are examining whether the threat originated domestically or abroad,” said Densus 88 spokesperson Superintendent Mayndra Eka Wardhana on Wednesday (18/6/2025), confirming that the sender is suspected to be a foreign citizen.
The threat prompted an emergency landing at Kualanamu Airport, North Sumatra, where the aircraft was declared safe following a thorough search by joint police, military, and airport security units.
Densus 88 is coordinating with Saudi authorities since the aircraft is considered a Saudi national asset. So far, no physical evidence of a bomb has been found on the plane. The email, received on Tuesday, had threatened to detonate the aircraft midair. Investigation into the sender's identity and intent is ongoing.
