Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Traffic Corps has officially deployed Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) Drone Patrol, marking a major shift in how traffic laws are enforced nationwide through real-time aerial monitoring, police said on Wednesday (14/1/2026).
Head of the Traffic Corps nspector General Agus Suryonugroho said the drone-based ETLE system strengthens road safety by expanding surveillance beyond ground-level monitoring.
“This represents a fundamental shift from land-based supervision to integrated, real-time aerial enforcement,” he said, as cited by antaranews.com
The ETLE drone can detect violations such as running red lights, riding without helmets, driving against traffic, and offenses in accident-prone areas that are often missed by static cameras or routine patrols. Each violation is automatically validated as electronic evidence and directly connected to the national ETLE system.
Police said the technology reduces direct contact between officers and road users, increasing transparency, accuracy, and accountability. With wider coverage, the system also supports prevention efforts in congested and hard-to-reach areas. Authorities stressed the initiative prioritizes public safety and aims to foster a modern, fair traffic culture.
