Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi is set to participate in three United Nations (UN) meetings addressing the conflict in Gaza, Palestine, an official said on Tuesday (24/10/2023)
"Minister Retno will engage in discussions within the UN Security Council (UNSC) as part of the ongoing efforts to resolve the Gaza issue," said Ambassador Armanatha Nasir, the Indonesia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
He explained that the UNSC discussions represent the UN's repeated attempts to address the Gaza conflict, antaranews.com reported.
Previous efforts by UNSC member states to pass resolutions have faced obstacles due to significant differences in positions concerning the Israel-Palestine conflict.
In these meetings, which are open to all non-UNSC member countries, Foreign Minister Retno will have an opportunity to present Indonesia's perspective on the Gaza issue.
Minister Retno will participate in another UNSC meeting focusing on peace and security matters on Wednesday and an emergency special session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to addressing the Gaza issue in Palestine on Thursday.
