Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Kembangan Police Office in West Jakarta arrested four women for stealing children's jewelry at a mall in Puri Kembangan.
The suspects, identified as AH (43), YI (30), NI (28), and NH (20), targeted children playing in the mall’s entertainment area.
“Each had a specific role, from scouting victims to stealing gold necklaces and pendants. One of the suspects, a housewife, even involved her own child in the crime,” said Senior Inspector Moch Taufik Iksan on Friday (14/2/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The theft was reported on 9 February 2025 after a parent found their child’s necklace missing.
Investigators traced suspect NI to Tebet, South Jakarta, but she had moved to Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, where she was arrested on 11 February 2025. Suspect YI was caught shortly after, leading police to the other two suspects. They had committed similar thefts at Eco Park Tebet.
The suspects face up to seven years in prison under Article 363 of the Criminal Code. Police urged parents to remain vigilant when bringing children to public places.
