Gave 1,000 Basic Necessities Packages to Jakarta's Street Vendors, Chief of Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police Listened to Their Stories

inp.polri.go.id - Indonesian National Police keeps giving social aid during the implementation of Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions Enforcement (PPKM). For now, the street vendors of Jakarta have become the recipients of the basic necessities packages. Chief of Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police, Police Inspector General Istiono, explained that Police is in cooperation with Indonesian Street Vendors Association (APKLI) in this social care event. There are 1,000 street vendors in Jakarta who will receive the basic necessities package. "Today, we gave 1,000 basic necessities packages for our street vendors colleagues that have been perhaps affected on their income that may be decreased", Chief of Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police said at Pasar Rebo area, East Jakarta, on Friday (27/8/2021). In the symbolic handover ceremony, the Chief of Traffic Corps had a chat with some street vendors. Istiono also listened to their complaints during the Covid-19 pandemic. "I have been open my stall in school. Due to the school closure, it becomes difficult, Sir. But I have to earn some money, so I just going around", Taufiq, the batagor seller, said. Besides that, Istiono also asked them about the Covid-19 vaccination. Most of the street vendors have been vaccinated. "I have (vaccinated) twice", Maryati, herbal drink seller, said when asked by Istiono. On the same occasion, the Head of APKLI, Ali Maksun Atmo, ensured that his organisation always encouraged the street vendors to be in high spirit during the pandemic. Ali also mentioned that his organisation also encouraged street vendors to get vaccinated. "Since March 2020, we keep assisting the street vendors from two sides, Sir. One side is to keep them optimistic in earning money, and one side to encourage them to obey the Health Protocols and get vaccinated as soon as possible", Ali said. Chief of Traffic Corps added that Indonesian National Police would always be with the people, even though in the hard times. He also reminded those street vendors to implement Health Protocols when selling. "My message for my dear colleagues is to keep enforcing the Health Protocols. The most important is mask-wearing. Wear your masks everywhere, including in the public places", the two-star general concluded. (my/bq/hy)
