The Director of Supply Stability and Food Price of National Food Agency (Bapanas), Maino Dwi Hartono, says the decrease in people's purchasing power is the main reason behind the fluctuation. However, several other commodities prices are instead declining.

In his statement, he says that the production of national food in September is considered better than the last year.

“Our production in September is actually better than the last year,” says Dwi Hartono,

Government currently continues to monitor the market condition to anticipate price increasing potential, particularly as the New Year Eve is approaching.

The price stabilization program, such as rice distribution, will continue to be held to maintain stock balance.

Other than monitoring the price, the government will also focus on food distribution to the regions experiencing food deficiency. This step is taken to ensure the price is well maintained and affordable to all levels of society.
