Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani has called on the government to disband civil society organizations, locally known as ormas, that disturb public order or operate with thuggish behavior.
“We urge the government to act firmly against organizations that disrupt order and cause public unrest, especially those exhibiting thuggish conduct,” she said on Sunday (25/5/2025) after meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Parliament Complex in Senayan.
Her statement came in response to reports that an ormas had unlawfully occupied land owned by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Pondok Betung, South Tangerang.
House Speaker Puan emphasized that the state must not yield to such acts of lawlessness, as reported by antaranews.com.
BMKG had earlier filed a police report over the occupation of its 127,780 square-meter property, which had stalled construction plans for an archival building. Police demolished a structure allegedly built by members of GRIB Jaya on the site and arrested 17 people related to the case.
