Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Health has issued an official circular urging increased vigilance against COVID-19 following a rise in infections across several Asian countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
“Although current transmission and mortality rates remain low, dominant variants like XEC, JN.1, LF.7, and NB.1.8 are being reported across the region,” said Acting Director General of Disease Prevention and Control Murti Utami on Saturday (31/5/2025), as reported by antara news.com.
In contrast, Indonesia has seen a decline in weekly confirmed cases—from 28 in week 19 to just 3 in week 20—with a positivity rate of 0.59 percent. The dominant strain in circulation is MB.1.1.
The ministry advised the public to stay alert by monitoring official health updates, reporting flu-like illnesses promptly, and practicing good hygiene, such as regular hand washing and mask usage in crowded or high-risk environments.
“Seek medical attention immediately if experiencing respiratory symptoms and have a history of exposure to risk factors,” Murti asserted.
