inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Housing and Settlement (PKP) Maruarar Sirait and Qatari investor Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Thani signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the housing sector.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/8/2025). The cooperation is for funding the construction of 1 million houses for low-income people (MBR).

The Minister of PKP said that the land used for construction belongs to institutions and ministries. Later, the construction will be focused on vertical housing, in order to overcome the problem of settlements in urban areas.

This cooperation makes Qatar the first foreign investor to contribute to fulfilling the priority program of the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka government, namely building 3 million houses for MBR every year.

Based on the 2021 Indonesian Housing Profile released by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing on March 25th, 2022, households classified as MBR are households with an average income group of between IDR 4 million and IDR 8 million.
