Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. As part of an initiative to make it easier for Indonesian citizens residing in Cambodia to participate in the electoral process, the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in Phnom Penh has announced an early voting date of 10 February for the 2024 elections.
This early voting opportunity precedes the national polling day scheduled for February 14, 2024, as reported by antaranews.com. Roland Uly Uju, the  PPLN Chairman in Phnom Penh, said on Monday (4/12/2023) that the decision to implement early voting had been suggested and approved by the General Election Commission (KPU). Explaining the rationale behind the decision, Roland said, "Choosing February 14 as the national polling day, which falls on a Wednesday, would make it difficult for Indonesians to obtain work leave. Hence, we decided to hold the election on February 10, 2023, which falls on a Saturday." The PPLN in Phnom Penh has identified 9,099 Indonesian citizens on the permanent list of overseas voters in Cambodia. These citizens can exercise their right to vote either by visiting polling stations at the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh or utilizing mobile ballot boxes in four designated areas: Sihanoukville, Bavet, Chrey Thom, and Poipet. According to the KPU, approximately 1.7 million overseas voters will participate in early voting for the 2024 election.
