Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) is warning the public to be cautious of online scams disguised as investment opportunities, promising high returns in a short time.

"We urge people not to fall for offers that promise large profits quickly," said Brigadier GeneralTrunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the INP Public Relations Division Head of the Public Information Bureau, in a statement on Sunday (26/1/2025).

He explained that fraudulent schemes, particularly involving cryptocurrency trading, are becoming more common. Scammers typically share fake investment links on social media, leading victims to WhatsApp groups that pose as educational investment forums. In these groups, victims are promised big returns from cryptocurrency and stock trading.

However, many victims lose their money when these fake platforms show inflated investment values but prevent withdrawals.

“Cybercriminals often use psychological tricks, like creating urgency or offering big rewards," Chief Trunoyudo warned, as quoted by antaranews.com

He advised people to verify the legitimacy of online investments with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and report any suspicious activity immediately
