Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Military Command’s spokesperson, Colonel Anto Indriyanto, addressed public concerns about an official letter sent by Central Jakarta military command to Soekarno-Hatta Airport Customs, which appeared to request the release of items brought in by a traveler named Arie Kurniawan.

He clarified that the letter was not intended to exempt Arie’s luggage from customs inspection.

"The items brought by Mr. Arie Kurniawan were fully inspected by officers and no illegal goods were found," Chief Anto said on Wednesday (28/5/2025), as quoted by antara news.com.

The letter, he explained, was issued as a personal favor—because Arie's child was reportedly ill, although no further medical details or the link to the goods were provided.

"The Central Jakarta military commander issued the letter to request assistance from customs staff because Mr. Arie's child was sick," Chief Anto said said, adding that the Central Jakarta military commander and Arie are personally acquainted.

A photo of the letter had circulated on social media. It listed the goods—watches, bags, jackets, and fridge magnets—described as family souvenirs from abroad.

Chief emphasized the military is investigating the matter and would take disciplinary action if regulations were breached.
