Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The emission testing fines has been scheduled to reinstate in 1 November 2023 following its temporary suspension in September because it was deemed ineffective.
The Jakarta Metro Regional Police, in collaboration with the Jakarta Environmental Agency, will impose fines on vehicles that fail the emission test. The enforcement will be carried out as an effort to preserve and prevent further deterioration of air quality in Jakarta.
Senior Superintendent Latif Usman, the Director of Traffic at the Jakarta Metro Regional Police, explained that they had conducted awareness campaigns about the importance of reducing emission gases.
"In November, we will start issuing fines, targeting those who refuse to comply," he said earlier this week.
The fines are based on Article 285 paragraph 1 of Law Number 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation. Violations of the emission testing fines carry penalty ranging from warnings to fines of around Rp 250,000 for motorcycles and Tp 500,000 for cars.
