Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta administration has adopted artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor and manage traffic congestion across the capital, Governor Pramono Anung said on Wednesday (11/6/2025).
“We are using an Intelligent Traffic Control System, or ITCS, which adjusts traffic signals in real time based on actual road conditions,” he said at the Jakarta Transportation Agency office, as quoted by antaranews.com
ITCS analyzes vehicle flow and travel times using sensors and software, improving traffic efficiency. The system currently operates with 65 AI-enabled CCTV units out of 321 planned, with expansion scheduled in stages.
Jakarta Transportation Head Syafrin Liputo said that 25 officers will oversee CCTV monitoring to ensure constant traffic surveillance. A call center integrated with CRM software will also handle public complaints, with a response target of under three hours.
According to the TomTom Traffic Index, Jakarta’s congestion level averages 30%, meaning travel times are 30% longer than under free-flowing conditions. Peak-hour delays are significantly worse.
