Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. A faction of the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Elkius Kobak is suspected of killing an Indonesian soldier in a recent shooting in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua, the Damai Cartenz Task Force said on Tuesday (17/6/2025).

"Initial investigations indicate that the shooting of Sergeant Major SM was carried out by the armed criminal group under Elkius Kobak. Our team found a projectile at the scene," said Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Head of Damai Cartenz Task Force, as quoted by antaranews.com

The soldier’s body was discovered near Kali Biru Bridge in Seradala, following a Monday ambush during his return to Yahukimo military command.

Authorities are also investigating whether the same group was responsible for a separate attack on local loggers that left one dead and another injured.
