Lampung Regional Police has submitted the autopsy results of three police officers who were shot to death during a raid on an illegal cockfighting operation in Way Kanan to the Indonesian National Police (INP) forensic laboratory for ballistic metallurgical analysis.
"We have sent the autopsy findings to the lab to determine the type of weapon used," said Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helmy Santika on Wednesday (19/3/2025).
The investigation aims to verify witness accounts that shots were fired from varying distances—6, 5, and 13 meters. Preliminary findings revealed multiple shell casings at the scene, including 8 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber, 3 rounds of 7.62 mm, and 2 rounds of 9 mm, as reported by antaranews.com
Commander of Sriwijaya Military Command, Major General Ujang Darwis, said that while a suspected military personnel admitted to using a homemade firearm, further forensic analysis is needed to confirm the claim.
