"From the results of the initial interrogation, it is known that the motive behind the murder was because of jealousy," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanjung Priok Port Sub-regional Police, Police Senior Inspector I Gusti Ngurah Putu Krishna Narayana, as reported by Antaranews on Saturday (6/14/2025).

According to him, the murder was motivated by a dispute at work and further fueled jealousy because the ex-lover of MY is currently in a relationship with the victim.

Previously the Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanjung Priok Port Sub-regional Police arrested a man with the initials MY who is suspected of killing ABT (39) using a sharp weapon in front of TPI Muara Angke Pluit, North Jakarta on Friday (6/13/2025).

"The perpetrator was arrested in the Pluit Permai Housing area, Block 10, North Jakarta at around 15:30 pm or just several hours after the stabbing," said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit.

The perpetrator fought back against officers while searching for evidence of the dagger used by the perpetrator to stab the victim.

"We took measured action in accordance with the Regulation of the Chief of the Republic of Indonesia National Police 1/2009 by shooting the perpetrator in the leg," he explained.

In being held accountable for his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 338 and Article 351 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code, namely the crime of intentionally taking the life of another person and/or assault resulting in death with a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
