Nearly 687,000 Vehicles Leave Greater Jakarta Ahead of Christmas

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Traffic out of Greater Jakarta surged as 686,609 vehicles departed through major toll gates from 18 to 21 December 2024, marking a 14.6% increase compared to regular traffic volumes, according to state toll operator PT Jasa Marga.

The exodus, which coincides with the Christmas and New Year holiday season, saw the highest flow toward the eastern corridor, including Trans-Java and Bandung, accounting for 45.5% (312,092 vehicles). Westbound traffic to Merak in Banten totaled 31.6% (216,704 vehicles), while southbound routes toward Puncak in Bogor, West Java, comprised 23% (157,813 vehicles).

Eastbound traffic recorded significant spikes, with 159,169 vehicles using the Main Cikampek Toll Gate, a 36.2% increase, and 152,923 vehicles passing through the Main Kalihurip Gate, up 12.7%. Westbound and southbound routes also saw upticks of 9.8% and 6%, respectively, as reported by antaranews.com.

On 21 December 2024 alone, traffic out of Jabotabek reached 195,988 vehicles, a 17.6% jump from typical levels. Jasa Marga reported a 59.4% increase in eastbound travel via the Main Cikampek Gate, signaling heightened mobility ahead of the holiday.

Motorists were advised to plan routes, ensure sufficient electronic toll card balance, and monitor traffic updates via PT Jasa Marga’s 24-hour call center or the Travoy app.
