inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Population and Family Development /Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), Wihaji, stated that increasing family communication is a solution to reducing children's addiction to gadgets.

"I invite children to spend more time with their parents, and parents to also talk with their children, so that they (children) can spend less time 'chatting' on their cellphones," said Wihaji on Thursday (7/31/2025).

According to him, gadgets or cellphones have now become new "family members" that can affect the quality of family relationships.

If family communication is not well maintained, children will spend more time playing with their gadgets. The BKKBN Minister stated that the average child's screen time can reach seven to eight hours per day.

"Children are extraordinary; they now spend an average of seven to eight hours on their cellphones every day. Therefore, we must be careful," said the BKKBN Minister.

The Minister of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) supports the implementation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic Systems for Child Protection (PP Tunas) as a new framework for protecting children from the risk of gadget addiction.

"Hopefully, this regulation will provide new opportunities and set limits, all in the context of preparing Indonesia's golden generation," he said.
