Inp.polri.go.id - Karawang. Karawang Sub-regional Police conducted a reconstruction of the assault on a group of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) clerics and Banser members in Rengasdengklok, West Java, to verify the facts of the case.
Nahdlatul Ulama is one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia while Banser is its paramilitary wing.
“The reconstruction is aimed at completing the case files and confirming the details of the incident,” said Karawang Police spokesperson Second Inspector Solikin on Tuesday (1/10/2024).
The attack took place on 10 August 2024 around 10 p.pm. in Warudoyong Village, Rengasdengklok. The assailants stopped the group’s vehicle, vandalized it, and assaulted them.
One NU cleric and two Banser members were injured. The group was en route to an event at the Al Baghdadi Islamic Boarding School.
Three suspects have been charged under Article 170 of the Criminal Code for collective violence, facing up to five years and six months in prison. Evidence seized includes a brown vest, white cap, black T-shirt, camouflage-patterned pants, and a Honda Supra Fit motorcycle.
The reconstruction featured 32 scenes reenacted at the Karawang Police Headquarters in collaboration with the Karawang Prosecutor’s Office.
