Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto chaired a limited cabinet meeting on Tuesday (10/6/2025) to review preparations for building a giant sea wall along Java’s northern coast, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed.
"President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting regarding the readiness to establish a giant sea wall along the north coast of Java Island," he said in an official statement, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The project aims to protect coastal regions from climate-related threats, including tidal flooding and land subsidence. The sea wall is also expected to strengthen environmental resilience and serve as a source of clean water.
The proposed structure, stretching from Cilegon to Gresik, could reach 946 kilometers in length. Studies have been ongoing since 2016 with support from the Netherlands and South Korea.
In a separate session, President Prabowo also discussed nationwide waste management strategies, including investment initiatives involving the Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency.
