Personnel from the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP) regarding the brutal attack carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya on two members of the Nabire Mobile Brigade Battalion C. The incident occurred while the victims were on duty in Siriwo District, Nabire Regency, on Wednesday (8/13/2025) at approximately 10:50 a.m.

The crime scene investigation revealed that the perpetrators, suspected members of the KKB from the Aibon Kogoya group, shot the two victims, Brigadier Muhammad Arif Maulana (34) and Brigadier Nelson Runaki (26). The shots immediately incapacitated Brigadier Nelson, who fell to the ground. Brigadier Arif was also hit. Witnesses saw the two unidentified men, armed with long guns, with dreadlocks, and wearing shorts, descending a hill to the right of the scene.

The attack also resulted in the loss of two AK-101 long rifles, six magazines, and a body vest. The evidence that was successfully secured included nine 7.62 mm caliber bullet casings, nine 5.56 mm caliber casings, two cell phones belonging to the victim, a headset, and one projectile found on the body of Brigpol Arif Maulana.

The Head of Operation Damai Cartenz, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, expressed his deep condolences and reaffirmed his commitment to law enforcement.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of two of our best personnel who died while carrying out our national duties. Firm and measured steps will be taken to pursue the perpetrators, especially the armed criminal group led by Aibon Kogoya, and to ensure security in the region," he said.

The Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Damai Cartenz, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, appealed to the public to remain calm and vigilant.

"We urge the entire community to remain calm and vigilant. We fully entrust the pursuit and law enforcement process to the security forces. Security is a shared responsibility, and public cooperation is crucial in maintaining a safe Papua," he stressed.
