Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian Foreign Ministry reports from the 133 Indonesian citizens who are still in Palestine and Israel, only 4 accepted to be evacuated to return home to Indonesia.
The Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens, Judha Nugraha can only speculate that the 129 Indonesians declined to be evacuated due to the situations in the city that are not yet safe.
Judha stressed that his party did everything to rescue Indonesian citizens who are trapped in the city conflicted by conflict. He also reiterated that state’s duty is to protect its citizens and could not force them to evacuate.
“Once again, I reiterate that state’s duty is to secure and protect its citizens from dangerous area to more secure area according to the Law 37 of 1999 regarding foreign relations. However, its nature is by consent," he explained
“We could not force them, the choice still on their hands. Our duty is to inform them about security situation assessment and our prediction on what’s to come, but nonetheless, the decision for the evacuation still rely on their own hands,” explains the Judha.
In his conclusion, Indonesian government have held a zoom meeting with its 133 citizens to monitor their situation in ensuring everything is well and safe and relay the information regarding the current conflict that has been raging in Palestinian soil.
