Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan, stated that of the 46 police reports, the handling process is at various stages, from initial investigation to phase II.

"Of the 46 police reports, five are still under investigation, 24 are in the initial investigation process, 13 have entered phase I, and three cases have reached phase II," said Iwan Kurniawan, in Palangka Raya on Tuesday (9/29/2026).

In addition to handling cases involving individuals, investigators are also processing cases related to 12 corporations.

"And for corporations, I need to convey this to all of you: we are currently implementing Article 99 paragraph (1) of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management," he explained.

In the latest development, police arrested eight suspects in land burning cases over the past two weeks. The eight suspects are linked to six police reports handled in several areas of Central Kalimantan.

This action is part of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police's efforts to investigate the cause of the fires and prosecute those suspected of being responsible for the forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan.
