"Two individuals suspected of possessing palm wine, identified as D, 46, and AH, 47, were arrested. Approximately 750 liters of ballo or palm wine were found at each location," Cahyadi said in Gowa on Saturday (10/25/2026).
This raid stemmed from public information regarding the alleged widespread circulation of unlicensed traditional alcoholic beverages, which could potentially disrupt public order and security.
Following up on the report, the police conducted an investigation. Officers discovered two houses suspected of being used to store palm wine.
The operation took place early Saturday morning (10/24/2026) in Bollangi Hamlet, Timbuseng Village, Pattallassang District, Gowa Regency. At both locations, palm wine was found stored in sacks and large buckets.
Based on initial investigations, the palm wine was intended to be sold for around IDR 50,000 per jerrycan. Police also suspect the locations were used as drinking dens.
All evidence was then taken to the Gowa Sub-regional Police for further processing, including planned destruction. Meanwhile, the two individuals arrested will be prosecuted according to legal provisions if found guilty.
The two are suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph (1) of Gowa Regency Regional Regulation Number 50 of 2001 concerning the Supervision and Regulation of Performances and Entertainment Venues, as well as the Prohibition of Alcoholic Beverages in Gowa Regency.
Cahyadi urged the public to actively report any suspected distribution or consumption of alcoholic beverages that violate regulations to the police. Public participation is considered crucial in helping maintain security and order in Gowa Regency.
