Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Over 1,700 residents from 607 households have been displaced following a massive fire in Kemayoran Gempol, Central Jakarta, which broke out in the densely populated area early Tuesday (21/1/2025).
The fire destroyed more than 500 homes across 11 neighborhood units in Kebon Kosong.
“Temporary shelters have been set up at Mushola Al-Hasanah and Baiturrahman Mosque,” said Mohamad Yohan, the Head of Data and Information atI Jakarta’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Authorities have distributed aid, including 360 boxes of bottled water, 1,797 ready-to-eat meals, and blankets. However, more supplies are urgently needed.
Firefighters battled the flames for over six hours, deploying 34 fire engines and 170 personnel. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
