inp.polri.go.id - Riau. During Operation Patuh Lancang Kuning 2025, the Riau Regional Police Traffic Directorate took action against speed limit violations on the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road.
Through the Law Enforcement Task Force, the operation utilized a speed gun as part of a technological approach to traffic law enforcement.
Beginning at 9:00 a.m, the joint team successfully prosecuted 19 drivers caught exceeding the posted speed limit.
These drivers were subject to sanctions in accordance with Article 287 paragraph (5) in conjunction with Article 106 paragraph (4) letter g and Article 115 letter a of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation.
The Head of the Law Enforcement Task Force, Police Assistant Superintendent Fauzi, revealed that field monitoring revealed that many drivers still do not realize the importance of obeying speed limits on toll roads.
"We observed a low level of awareness among toll road drivers regarding the need to comply with the posted speed limits. Yet, the measures we are taking are intended to have a deterrent effect and create orderly, safe, comfortable, and secure traffic," he explained, as reported by the riau1 website, Sunday (7/20/25).
Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic for the Riau Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Taufiq Lukman Nurhidayat, stated that this enforcement action is also accompanied by outreach and prevention efforts, including the installation of warning signs at toll gates and routine joint patrols with PT Hutama Karya officers.
"We continue to conduct outreach and education. Voice warnings are already in place at toll gates. Routine patrols are also being conducted to prevent vehicles from stopping on the roadside. If you're tired, please use the available rest areas," he said.
Taufiq further added that with the implementation of Operation Patuh Lancang Kuning 2025, he hopes that public awareness, especially toll road users, will continue to increase, in order to comply with regulations and ensure everyone's safety.
