inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police, along with the East Java Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), raided the Kunti Road area in Semampir District, Surabaya, which was targeted for investigation into alleged drug abuse and distribution.
In the operation, which began Wednesday morning (10/14/2026), officers detained 19 men for questioning.
The Head of Public Relations for the East Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Jules Abraham Abast, stated that all those detained are still being questioned to determine their possible involvement in drug abuse and distribution.
"We don't want to preempt the process, so we cannot yet provide details on the number of potential suspects or the evidence obtained from today's operation," he said.
Jules explained that officers have also conducted urine tests on the 19 men as part of the investigation. However, the results of the urine tests, the amount of evidence confiscated, and the potential suspects have not yet been announced.
According to Jules, this raid is part of the police's efforts, along with the East Java National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), to suppress drug distribution and prevent drug abuse in the community, particularly in the Kunti Road area, known as Kampung Kunti.
"This step is to eradicate drug distribution in the area, especially to protect the younger generation," he said.
The East Java Regional Police emphasized that the action will not stop with the raid. As a follow-up, the police plan to establish a permanent police post involving the community and relevant stakeholders.
The post is expected to strengthen surveillance in the Jalan Kunti area, prevent further drug trafficking activities, and help create a safer environment for residents.
