inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) continues its efforts to address wildfires in East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan. A total of 200 personnel from the Mobile Brigade Corps have been deployed to assist in extinguishing and preventing the fires from spreading. In addition, 10 personnel from the Criminal Investigation Agency have been deployed to support law enforcement, with five personnel each in East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.
In a statement in Jakarta on Monday (10/26/2026), Brigadier General Trunoyudo, Head of Public Information Bureau of INP Public Relations Division, stated that this step is part of their comprehensive efforts to address forest and land fires, from extinguishing and preventing fires in the field to enforcing the law against those responsible for the fires.
"We continue our efforts to address wildfires by deploying personnel to assist in extinguishing fires, preventing the spread of fires, and supporting law enforcement. These efforts are being carried out professionally with relevant agencies and the community to minimize the impact of forest and land fires," Trunoyudo said.
In East Kalimantan, 100 personnel from the 1st Gegana Regiment and the 1st Pioneer Regiment of the 2nd Brimob Troops were dispatched during a ceremony at the East Kalimantan Regional Police Headquarters in Balikpapan, led by the Vice Chief of the East Kalimantan Regional Police, Brigadier General Rustam Mansur.
These personnel were assigned to assist with hotspot management in East Kutai Regency and support forest and land fire mitigation efforts in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kutai, West Kutai, and Paser areas. Personnel deployment was based on field needs to ensure optimal fire extinguishing and prevention efforts.
In addition, five personnel from the Criminal Investigation Agency were stationed in East Kalimantan to support law enforcement processes related to forest and land fires. The presence of these personnel is expected to assist in the professional handling of cases in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
Meanwhile, 100 personnel from the 2nd Pioneer Regiment of the 2nd Brimob Troops were dispatched to Central Kalimantan after being seen off by the Commander of the 2nd Pioneer Regiment of the 2nd Brimob Troops, Senior Commissioner Pol. Ndaru Istimawan in South Sulawesi.
These personnel are focused on assisting with fire hotspots, including in the Tanjung Puting National Park (TNTP) area in West Kotawaringin, which requires intensive management. They will be deployed to various locations within their assigned areas as needed to support extinguishing efforts, wetting the land, and preventing the fires from spreading again.
In Central Kalimantan, five personnel from the Criminal Investigation Agency have also been assigned to support law enforcement in cases of suspected forest and land fires. The deployment of personnel in these two provinces is expected to assist in optimal case handling, including investigating the suspected cause of the fires and identifying responsible parties if criminal elements are found.
Thus, forest and land fire management focuses not only on extinguishing the fires but also includes prevention and law enforcement efforts. This approach is part of the police's efforts to address the fires and prevent similar incidents from recurring.
Trunoyudo emphasized that forest and land fire management requires the involvement of various parties, from officers in the field, local governments, and the community. Therefore, synergy between all parties is crucial in controlling fires and reducing their impact on the environment and the lives of residents.
