inp.polri.go.id - West Sumatra. The West Sumatra Regional Police has named 25 suspects in a case of alleged misappropriation or hoarding of subsidized fuel (BBM) from October 19-25, 2026.
This was conveyed by the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Siswantoro, during a press conference at the West Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Monday (10/26/2026), accompanied by the Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Susmelawati.
"We have named 25 perpetrators as suspects. They are suspected of misusing subsidized fuel, namely Pertalite and Biodiesel," said Siswantoro.
He said the suspect naming of the perpetrators is proof that the West Sumatra Police are serious about enforcing the law.
Siswantoro stated that in addition to being named as suspects, all the perpetrators were also detained and are currently undergoing investigation.
Siswantoro stated that from these dozens of cases, the police confiscated various pieces of evidence, including 23 vehicles, approximately 2,886 liters of Pertalite, approximately 14,648 liters of biodiesel, and six mobile devices.
He explained that the perpetrators' modus operandi was to purchase government-subsidized fuel, such as Pertalite and biodiesel, at Pertamina prices and then resell them at a higher price.
"These perpetrators made a profit of nearly fifteen thousand rupiah per liter because they resold the subsidized fuel at a higher price than Pertamina," he said.
He emphasized that the perpetrators' fraudulent practices were intended to reap personal gain, while harming the people of West Sumatra, who should have received subsidized fuel, and the state finances that had paid for the subsidies.
Meanwhile, Susmelawati stated that legal action against those who misuse or embezzle subsidized fuel will continue to be intensified.
She urged the public to provide information and report any fraudulent practices involving subsidized fuel to the nearest police station or to contact the police hotline service at 110.
