Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A total of 27 countries from across Asia Pacific attended the Special Olympics Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) 2023 in Jakarta from Thursday to Saturday this week.
Warsito Ellwein, Chairman of the Special Olympics Indonesia, said on Friday (3/11/2023) that the 27 nations participating in the RLC are members of the Asia Pacific region of Special Olympics, antaranews.com reported.
During the three-day meeting, participants will focus on promoting cooperation to enhance the development of children with intellectual disabilities.
Warsito explained that the organization provide year-round training and activities for 5 million participants and integrated sports partners in 172 countries.
The organization currently involves 2.1 million athletes in the Asia-Pacific region and aims to promote inclusiveness, respect and dignity for citizens with intellectual disabilities through sports.
Special Olympics is an organization for children and adults, recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the world's only olympics for people with intellectual disabilities.
