inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Environment (KLH)/Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) stated that criminal law enforcement against 28 companies found violating forest area utilization regulations has been handed over to the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency.

The Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the KLH/BPLH, Rizal Rawan, stated this in response to President Prabowo Subianto's decision to revoke the permits of 28 companies responsible for the flooding in Sumatra.

"The Criminal Investigation Agency will carry out criminal law enforcement as we do not have the authority in that area. On the other hand we are all continuing our coordination in the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (Satgas PKH). We have divided the tasks within the task force, and we specifically handle the non-criminal aspects," explained Rizal on Wednesday (1/21/2026).

He explained that the civil legal process against companies found to have violated environmental permits and forest area utilization regulations is also ongoing.

"The civil proceedings will of course continue, so all avenues are being pursued, including administrative, criminal, and civil sanctions," he said.

Based on the findings of experts deployed to address the disaster in Sumatra, environmental damage was discovered as a result of the activities of 28 companies whose permits have been revoked.

"Yesterday, experts from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), whom we involved, found suspected environmental damage as a result of the activities of these companies," explained Rizal.
