inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate arrested a man with the initials AB (40) suspected of being involved in the distribution of 30 cartridges containing a substance suspected to be etomidate in Tangerang, Banten, and West Jakarta.

Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Narcotics Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Bismo Teguh Prakoso, explained that the case was uncovered on Monday (10/12/2026) at around 4:35 PM.

"The Operational Team of Unit 5, Sub-Directorate 3, received information from the public about frequent drug transactions on H. Mean Ujung Road, Karang Tengah, Tangerang City, and conducted an investigation," Bismo said in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/13/2026).

Following up on this information, officers from Unit 5, Sub-Directorate 3, Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate, monitored and mapped the location. Officers then apprehended AB on the side of H. Mean Ujung Road, Karang Tengah, Tangerang City.

During a search, police found several cartridges suspected of containing etomidate. The investigation then expanded to the boarding house occupied by the suspect on Bunga Road, Meruya Selatan, Kembangan, West Jakarta.

At a second location, officers found another similar cartridge. This brings the total confiscated evidence to 30 cartridges.

In addition, police also seized a cell phone, a blue shopping bag, a package, a flower pot, and a food package found during the investigation.

Bismo stated that investigators are still investigating this case by questioning the suspect and witnesses. Police are also expanding their investigation to determine the possible involvement of other parties.

To confirm the substance contained in the cartridges, the evidence will be sent to a forensic laboratory for further testing.

Etomidate is an anesthetic whose use must be under medical supervision. Therefore, laboratory testing is necessary to confirm the substance content in the confiscated evidence.

"Investigators will then complete the administrative investigation and conduct a case review to determine the next legal steps," he said.
