inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police repatriated 32 protesters who were detained during the riots near the Yogyakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Building on Tuesday night (10/20/2026). All protesters were confirmed to be in good health and have returned home.

The Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ihsan, stated that the security measures were implemented when the situation at the protest was escalating. He stated that this measure was a discretionary measure by the police to protect the safety of protesters and prevent further escalation of violence in public areas.

"This measure was taken purely as a discretionary measure by the police to ensure the safety of protesters and prevent further escalation of tensions in public areas," Ihsan said in a written statement on Wednesday (10/21/2026).

He explained that the 32 detained protesters consisted of 29 men and three women. All were repatriated early Wednesday morning at around 2:30 a.m. accompanied by police officers.

According to Ihsan, the repatriation process was going safely and smoothly. Officers even escorted the protesters to their respective homes to ensure their safe return.

"Everyone has been sent home and returned to their homes since early this morning, and no one was taken to the Yogyakarta Regional Police or the Yogyakarta City Police," he said.

Ihsan added that the situation on Malioboro Street has now returned to normal. Traffic flow, which was affected by the riots on Tuesday night, has also reportedly returned to normal.

"We urge the public to regularly monitor updates on public security and order through the official Yogyakarta Regional Police Public Relations channel to maintain a calm, safe, and conducive situation in Yogyakarta for all parties," said Ihsan.

The Yogyakarta Regional Police hope that the conducive situation can be maintained so that the public can carry out their activities safely and that their aspirations can be expressed in an orderly manner.
